Pigs

Can you think of any ways to use the words “pig” and “turtle” together in a sentence?  It may seem strange to consider using the two words together, but our team at porktastic is proud to share that we discovered a way!  While surfing the web, I found an interesting animal that I think all of you porklovers would enjoy hearing about!  The Pig-Nosed Turtle.

Did you know Pig-Nosed Turtles are being over hunted? Click on the picture to hear what Smithsonian.com had to say about it!

Apparently, this strange-looking creature got its unique name from its “pig-shaped” nose.  I can certainly see the similarity between the noses; Otherwise, I don’t think this little guy resemblances any of my pigs.

Don't get this turtle confused with the turtles below it!
These may look real, but they're actually a tasty recipe of bacon and hotdogs!

Do the turtles in these pictures look like distant cousins? Check back on Monday for details on how we combine the words “turtle” and “bacon” to make some delicious Bacon Turtles!

A little humor at Porktastic!

by Bethany on July 8, 2010

I came across these pictures that I absolutely had to share!  I know that my sense of humor is unusual, but if you couldn’t figure that out already there’s really no helping you!

Okay this isn’t exactly centered on pigs, but look he or she’s in the background!

This is what I did when I realized that I didn’t save my post for today and had to come up with something else. Isn’t this a better idea than the bacon and cheese soufflé that I was going to talk about instead?

I would just like to say on record that I have never done this to my father! (Since this statement is written in black and white it must be true, isn’t that how it works… right Dad :) )

Hope these made your day as much as they did mine!

Pork Chops and Bacon, My Two Favorite Animals

March 12, 2010

Today we would like to take a few moments to salute television’s biggest fan of bacon and everything else pork, Homer J. Simpson. Ok, so he doesn’t know that pork comes from pigs, but he sure has eaten a lot of it and is quite possibly responsible for keeping all of Springfield’s invisible hog farmers [...]

You can stop flipping from channel to channel to looking for some obscure Olympic sport. The games are over. Gone for another two years. Like you, we’re looking for something new to entertain us and keep that competitive spirit alive – at least until March Madness starts. In typical Porktastic fashion, we looked to our [...]
